Engaged!

Okay, we all know I'm the worst at blogging. I can't even pretend anymore. That's probably what I get for promising to blog while on a roadtrip....ah well.

As you all know, something pretty rad happened in my life just this past Tuesday....

I got engaged to Jordan! It was amazing, and I was surprised at how elaborate of a plan Jordan came up with.  I originally didn't think he'd propose until early or mid-December, but he ended up telling me a week or so ago that he'd be proposing to me by the end of November.

He definitely kept me guessing which day it would happen though. We made plans the previous week to go to the zoo for a little bit after he got out of class on Tuesday, and then he later asked if I wanted to go to dinner afterwards. However, I had also made plans with my friend Audrey to make some cupcakes, which Jordan said was fine because he had a lot of homework to do. This isn't unusual for him, so I thought nothing of it. Earlier in the day, Audrey asked if I wanted to go to this fancy hot chocolate place after we made cupcakes, and this is where I started to get an inkling of what was going on...I asked her the name of the place, and she said it was called 'Paletas Betty'. Paletas Betty is an ice cream shop, and it's where Jordan and I had our first date.

Halfway through making cupcakes my roommates came home, though one left quickly, saying she had to meet up with a friend, and the second left shortly after to go to the grocery store. So we decide to go to Paletas Betty, and Audrey takes us in her car. A few minutes away from downtown Chandler, Audrey abruptly changed the music in her car to one of my favorite love songs...

As soon as she did that, I knew IMMEDIATELY what was happening, and my heart started beating super fast and I jokingly yelled at Audrey that I knew she had been involved in it. So we pulled to the side of the street in downtown Chandler just as the song was ending and Jordan was waiting there for me. I got out of the car and he walked me to this old hotel nearby (another spot we had visited on our first date) and into the garden area there, where my roommates were waiting with cameras. He got down on one knee, and honestly happened so quickly I didn't even have time to cry, haha.

We stuck around for a little bit so Chelsea (my photographer roommate) could take a few more pictures, and then they left us to call our families. Then Jordan asked if it was okay if we drove to the Mesa Temple so he could give me something else, so we drove out to the temple, surprised my friends who lived right across the street with the news, and admired the Christmas lights. Once inside the visitor's center, Jordan handed me an envelope containing his journal entries about me, starting from the day he purchased the ring, up until that day. It was wonderful and sweet and I'm almost tearing up about it again just thinking about it.

Anyway, moral of the story, I love Jordan so much and I'm so excited to marry him! And I'm very excited for the rest of the family to meet him (sorry Nicole, you're the last sibling!). I should probably change this blog address soon to something more fitting...
